ریلوے کالونی راولپنڈی میں موجود ایک صدی پرانا بنگلہ پاکستان کی ریلوے کی تاریخ کا اہم حصہ ہے۔ یہ بنگلہ برطانوی دورِ حکومت میں تعمیر کیا گیا تھا، جب برصغیر میں ریلوے کا نظام ترقی کی راہوں پر گامزن تھا۔ یہ بنگلہ اُس وقت کے اعلیٰ افسران اور حکومتی عہدیداروں کے لیے تعمیر کیا گیا تھا تاکہ وہ آرام اور سکون کے ساتھ رہائش اختیار کر سکیں۔
یہ بنگلہ نہ صرف اپنی تعمیراتی خوبصورتی کی وجہ سے معروف ہے بلکہ اس کی تعمیر میں استعمال ہونے والے مضبوط اور دیرپا مواد کی بنا پر بھی خاصی اہمیت رکھتا ہے۔ برطانوی طرزِ تعمیر کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے اس میں بڑے بڑے کمرے، لکڑی کا کام، اونچی چھتیں، اور خوبصورت بارہ دری موجود ہیں جو اس دور کی اعلیٰ ذوق کی عکاسی کرتی ہیں۔
یہ بنگلہ آج بھی اپنی اصل حالت میں موجود ہے اور اس کی دیکھ بھال پاکستان ریلوے کی جانب سے کی جاتی ہے۔ ریلوے کالونی کی یہ تاریخی عمارت جدید اور قدیم طرزِ تعمیر کا حسین امتزاج پیش کرتی ہے اور راولپنڈی شہر کے تاریخی ورثے کا اہم حصہ سمجھی جاتی ہے۔
